Rudy’s Ristorante and Pizzeria: Authentic Italian Cuisine in Closter, NJ

What a wonderful little gem of a restaurant. I needed to run out and get some quick quality dinner before a late night meeting and I was not disappointed by Rudy‘s. The deceiving front lead to back into a well lit area with nice updated Decor. The wait staff was friendly and efficient. I got the mama Mia platter and it was absolutely delicious. I will absolutely go back but this time I think I may try a pizza because the front of the restaurant had my mouthwatering when I walked in

Had a good dining experience here. The two of us shared the nights special - Trio of veal, shrimp and chicken parmigiana with ziti and the special house salad. All great. Super tasty red sauce. Love their italian bread too. Even though splitting, it was more than we could eat and took some home. The red Sangria was the best we ever had. Jamie was our server and did a bang up job. She's efficient friendly and attentive as was all the staff we came across. Bathrooms were spotless. We'll have to come back

For context, Italian food has my heart (especially on Sundays after a hard and long day at work.) Perhaps, Rudy's is always seen as the most consistent, delicious, and family-oriented restaurant. Charlie is the owner and a genuine Italian. He is a kind man and walks around the aisles/tables just to monitor everyone. That also goes with Perla! Both of them are wonderful people. I recommend eating here, though the prices can be high end at times. I had my first veal marsala here. Cooked well, not oily, and delicious overall. What I like from here is the chicken noodle soup and the mamma mia platter. I almost got food coma because it was so much food! Just a warning: it's a lot of pasta so the food coma hits immediately upon going home. Anyway, I really like Rudy's! I am literally a semi-regular. Looking forward to coming here again!

Best pizza on the East Coast!! **Update 09/05/2020 Ate here today inside when they finally opened the indoor dinning. The tables were empty except for a sign to download the menu. Great drink selection including Joes Tea. Pizza and wings were both super delicious!! Eating inside again finnally!!!! **Update 08/14/2018 Ate here a few times during the stupid lockdowns of 2020. They now have outdoor seating under umbrella tables. The food was delicious as always. Delicious pizza as always! Dining room super clean. Ample free parking. Great service, great prices, super fast and one of the best pizzas in NJ and the entire USA!!

Stopped here for a slice of pizza for lunch. I placed my order quickly and it wasn't long before I had the pizza and drink. The service was great and the staff was very helpful and friendly. I will stop here to try other items on their menu.

Waked into Rudy’s for the first time to get some regular slices for take out. It was little busy as lots of customers were there for lunch time. A lot of the pizzas, garlic and Stromboli were pre cooked for quick handover. Our slices were ready in couple of minutes. While waiting for our slices, we took a tour around the restaurant. It is a huge restaurant with lots of space in the back. It’s gorgeous, seems like whole area was newly renovated. There are some booths and a small bar in front as well. The cheese slices were okay to me. They make it with thin crust which is nice but it is lightly cooked which is not my favorite kind. But a very nice place overall for great Italian meal.

Great place, good food. Got the calamari and burrata salad. As well a couple of slices, would recommend.

See edit below for second visit! We usually love dining here, BUT when we ordered for delivery tonight, we were HIGHLY disappointed!! The meatball parm had only TWO small meatballs cut in half on the whole sandwich! That's ONE meatball per sandwich half!! We paid $15 for this meatball parmesan sandwich is WAY too much for two meatballs on bread! On a good note, the eggplant parm dinner was delicious, as was the spicy mussels.... BUT the sad meatball parm sandwich is a deal breaker so I doubt we'll be dining here again. So Rudy's gets two stars for two meatballs. EDIT: We dined here again early Feb 2026 and got a *huge* portion of osso bucco, eggplant Parm and chicken stuffed w prosciutto & cheese. The food was delicious!! And they gave us a *real* meatball Parm sandwich to go to compensate for our last visit. We'll be back for more, hopefully our next visit will be just as good!!
